Poll Results: Favourite Sequel
I know it’s taken me quite some time to release the results of our latest poll, but the running was so tight, I decided to give it a little bit of an extended window. Now though, after receiving a record number of total votes, I feel it’s the perfect time to unleash the results.
If you don’t recall, which I’m sure most of you don’t seeing as the poll originated so long ago, I asked you which sequel is your all-time favourite. To be honest, it’s the usual culprits at the top of the list. That being said, I think you’ll be fairly surprised at where the film’s ended up in the voting and how close films two through four finished.
Really quick however, just a little administrative work to get out of the way before I present the results. The Guest List segment is still running and I’m completely out of brilliant top 10s from you lovely people. I know there’s quite a few who expressed interest, even presented topics, but never actually sent in anything. So, if you’d like to contribute, I’ll post the criteria below and we can get your entry published as soon as possible!
All you need to do is shoot me an e mail (thecinemamonster@gmail.com) with your name, website info (if you have one), and the topic you have chosen for your top 10. If I like what I see, I’ll give you the all clear and you can begin composing your entry. Make sure to include a descriptive, yet brief introduction and a picture or clip for every entry in your top 10. Use my own top 10s and other Guest List entries as references. Then, send it back to me and we will discuss a date of publish!

These were some hard choices. I think The Dark Night is the best comic book movie adaptation ever made so I have no qualms about the outcome. 🙂

Not surpised to see TDK at the top, but The Godfather Pt. II at the “bottom” is unexpected.
Completely agree! TDK at the top kind of surprised me with its pure domination of the other films in the poll.
It’s an (almost) universally beloved film. I still remember being in total awe when I first saw it at the theater.
Same here, I was blown away and left speechless when I first saw it. I remember I saw it twice in the first day. Once at midnight and once the following day at the first screening lol.

100% agreed on that man! Tastes in sequels seem to be more focused on a modern context. That said, I’ve yet to see Godfather Part III still. . . .

I know, I know. Sacrilege! But I liked the first one better. Edward Furlong’s terrible acting just really got to me.

I am surprised to see Godfather so low, as well as Terminator. All the same, all are worthy second installments in their respective franchises. Nice list.
Speaking of lists man, I should have mine in to you in the next couple days. I’m really sorry for putting that off for so long. I was trying to settle on an idea forever and then didn’t get back to it until yesterday/today. Be on the look-out for that! 😀
I love TDK, maybe it doesn’t deserve to be at the top, but it certainly deserves to be on this list :).

Now I just want this mentioned, I cannot BELIEVE The Godfather Part II scored so low!!!!!!!! However, THRILLED for The Dark Knight.
If you are lovely enough to do a second, I’d be thrilled to have it! It didn’t really score so low, it finished top 5, which is pretty amazing when considering how many films received a vote :).
Give me a bit of time, will pull something together. Will give me something to do when I take my breaks between studying haha.

Can’t say as I’m too surprised, although it would have been great to see The Godfather II further up the list. That’s what I voted for!
Totally agree about TDK, perhaps the best of the three though I still always have a soft spot for Batman Begins.
Same here, Batman Begins is so perfect, don’t know if I can confidently say TDK is better!

All these sequels rule! TDK and Godfather II are not shockers at all. I prefer Aliens to T2 but both are stunning.
